Start A Self-Care Ritual (+Video)

The path of self-mastery often calls to those with an undeniable quest to know oneself.

What better way to get started than to be with oneself?! A morning and evening ritual allows us to bridge our spiritual and physical connection for inspired exploration, discovery, and care. It also sets the tone for our day that directly influences our choices, actions, and experiences of life.

Since life is always changing, it is understandable that parts of us are always changing too. Even though we often resist what is uncertain, unfamiliar and uncomfortable, it is a natural part of our growth and evolutionary process. When we are willing to be with it all, we open ourselves up to the infinite resources and creative power of our true potential. And with that we can move through life with greater clarity, authentic power, and truth.

Among the many facets of being human, a unique and precious quality resides within each of us that is eternally present, unconditioned, and whole - the essence of Soul.

So how do we actively engage with the essence of our Soul?

We access our true nature through the field of awareness and intention (mind), the energy of the heart (body), and creative intelligence (Spirit).

The heart is the gateway and intersection of peace and power, spirit and matter, and divine feminine and masculine. It reveals the treasure and truth of who you really are. This innate guidance is always available and supports you in cultivating greater levels of joy, fulfillment, and personal freedom. The key is knowing how to actively engage, merge, and embody your true essence. A consistent self-care practice will help you tune-in to the inner experience, integrate your body’s unique wisdom, and inspire a soulful way of life.

Below are three main steps and a video clip to help you get started in creating a sacred ritual for inner-peace and harmony that will influence your quality of life.

  1. Embody the energy of peace.

Just like training a muscle, we have to train ourselves to embody a stable and expansive energy of peace. Our ability to cultivate and embody peace supports a clear mind, healthy body, and harmonizes our inner and outer experience of life. Remember to keep your practice simple and follow your inspiration.  It can be three minutes of gratitude, coloring, a bath, or a walk in the park.  Your options are limitless! Consider it an opportunity to develop a sacred relationship with yourself that is unique to your needs and well-being.

  2. Know your Why.

Is this something you really want to do for yourself? Why is this important to you now?

Getting clear on your intention will support you in taking action and reinforce genuine care and commitment. It may be helpful to write out the benefits, consequences, and non-negotiables (highlighting personal standards, values, beliefs, and expectations) as a reminder.

  3. Honor your personal agreement with action.

Once you commit, follow through. Don’t think about it!  For example, if you want to start a personal self-care practice that gets you up at 5 AM,  get up when the alarm goes off!  Once you think about it, you might snooze or skip.  This is a perfect example of how easy it is to stay in our ‘comfort’ zone and re-create experiences that validate ‘this doesn’t work for me’ or ‘I can’t do it.’ It is, however, part of the process and invites the opportunity for massive growth, especially when we take action in the discomfort of consciously moving through old patterns.

Again, a clear intention is super important. It is the heart-connection and driving force of your practice. Your power is in your choice. So, every time you take action in your ‘self-care’ identity of ‘YES, I’m doing this in honor of my well-being,’ you spark new pathways that encourage a relationship of trust, self-reliance, and accountability rooted in wholesome responsibility.

Remember to listen to your intuition, explore, and fine-tune knowing there is no right or wrong. Your practice is based on what genuine self-care represents to you. Once you get into a rhythm, it will become natural part of your lifestyle. You’ll know when you are out of alignment because you’ll feel ‘off’ and most often it doesn’t feel good.

It is a wholesome place to be on the path of self-mastery.
