The Bench - Intuition in Action
A continuation from My Story and the defining moment of truth that made me pay attention as it relates to the power of intuition.
About nine months after I read Simone Wright’s book, First Intelligence, and a whirlwind of travel, university tours, and coming full circle in my life, I landed on her website. The very same day, I inquired about her coaching services. The consideration to work with her was extremely enticing but the financial investment scared me! Plus I had a history of investing in personal and professional development when I really wanted to move from seeker to teacher. So, instead of trying to figure it out by mentaling the pros and cons or simply seizing the opportunity, like I would do in the past, I decided to apply the tools I had learned and actively use my intuition. This was the first time I ever commanded an answer in this way. I also let go of attachment to the outcome besides wanting to know the truth. I was okay with it being a clear yes or a clear no, as long as it was undeniably clear!
Here is a recap from my journal of how it all unfolded:
I decided to go for a walk around a nearby lake. I began to feel at ease, present, and coherent. I noticed the trees were a vibrant green and seemed to be shimmering. On a whim, I decided to play with an Intuitive Ask - curious about the part of making it undeniably and unmistakably clear. So, I asked, ‘Show me the Truth about the opportunity to work with Simone. Is it in my best interest at this time? Give me an undeniably clear answer!’ I let it go and was completely open to however it would make itself known.
I took a different route than usual. A few minutes later, I saw a lady walking a lab mix, that resembled my dog. I thought to myself, ‘ask her name,’ and then noticed my reaction immediately afterwards with ‘yeah right, like her name is Simone or something...now that's wishful thinking!’ I decided to challenge that thought and as I got closer, I made a comment about her dog and we started a conversation. Even though we were talking, it didn't feel right to ask her name. So, I let it go and continued along the trail.
I was about to make my way to a resting place, where I typically go on a daily basis located at the edge of the water with a beautiful serene view. I came around the bend and saw a lady taking pictures of the sunset. I figured I'd probably take some pictures too and as I got closer, almost like I may have interrupted her, she sat down on one end of my go-to bench. I considered sitting next to her, but as I crossed in front of her, her body language signaled to me that she wanted space and didn't want to interact. So, I continued down the path and along the water, soaking in the views.
After I took a few pictures, I naturally gravitated towards the middle bench - it was the only one available, and sat down. I noticed a silver name plate with large bold letters that said, ‘ANNE of LAKE ANNE’ and I read further, ‘In loving memory of Anne W. Simon.’ In that moment my jaw dropped! I saw the closest resemblance to Simone W. (Simone’s last name is Wright). I couldn't believe it. So much so, that I took a picture for proof! Amazed, I thought, ‘is this for real?!’ Then I thought, ‘if Simone's middle name is Anne, I will completely flip’…
I began to recall everything leading up to that moment and the timing of it all. At the start of my walk, I tried to call a friend, who didn’t answer. If we had been on the phone, this never would have played out. Then I realized had the first bench been available, I would have sat there because it was my regular go-to spot. The initial thought of ‘ask her name’ and my reaction of ‘yeah right, like it would be Simone!’...and then to see her name on the bench! So crazy it seemed. And even though it was undeniably clear, I still noticed the parts of me that thought it was too good to be true...but I couldn’t deny that out of all the names in the world, for her name to be on that bench in direct response to my ask....it doesn’t get any more clear!
I went back the next day because I never noticed the name plates before and saw that the bench I usually sit on does not have one. It was First Intelligence at its best. And to top it all off, I told Simone my story and found out her middle name is not Anne - it's my first name, Michelle! I am learning to experience those kinds of happenings as a new normal and better trust in the process. Such a joy and am grateful to experience it all.
So, I hope this example was helpful for you to see how the creative process works to support you in making clear, confident, and wise decisions in alignment with the highest good for I-WE-ALL. My story of The Bench highlights the impulses, nudges, blocks, guidance, and interventions all leading to truth. I did not know I would get an answer on my walk, I was simply in the moment and open to the flow. You can also see how the more you practice, the more fluent you become, and the more you grow to trust the process. This was so unbelievable to me that I repeatedly challenged the evidence after the fact because of my need for validation. If I had continued to second guess my findings, it would have cost substantial energy, time, and who knows what else. When we become aware of the energetics and information we give and receive, we can create these happenings as a normal way of life with focused intention, greater efficiency, and life-enhancing results. Our decisions directly influence our quality of life, so learning how to integrate and resource your body’s unique wisdom is the most valuable, precious, and powerful skill you can master. Imagine the ripple effect of making undeniably clear decisions related to health, money, relationships, love, career, and personal freedom.
